VfCA (Australia) - Climate Care Program

Vets for Climate Action - Climate Care Program What is the Climate Care Program (CCP)?

• A world first sustainability and net zero program designed for Australian veterinary practices by Vets for Climate Action (VfCA)

• Provides practical tools, knowledge and guidance on how to integrate sustainable cost-saving solutions and net zero strategies into your practice

• Self-paced and delivered online

• Just doesn’t tell you what you can do, but more importantly explains in detail how to do it,  and exactly where to go for additional help (e.g. government rebates, partner organisations)

How does CCP work?

• A ‘Climate Champion’ is nominated for each practice to work through the online modules,  and to inspire and collaborate with staff. The time commitment is around 1-2 hours per  week.

• CCP empowers the Climate Champion to build a team around them to participate in the  different tasks of the program. Many tips and ideas are provided to help the Climate  Champion engage the broader team.

• The modules are:

o Water efficiency

o Waste

o Energy Efficiency

o Renewables (and carbon calculator)

o Procurement

o Veterinary Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals.

• Modules are updated as new information is gained and improvements identified. • Since June 2024, a new easy-to-use carbon calculator has been added to help begin your net  zero strategy. Measuring carbon emission assists in setting goals, implementing reduction  strategies and measuring success.

• As a self-paced program, the current modules take 1-2 years to initially complete, noting that  sustainability is a continuous journey of improvement. Enhancements to the program will  progressively occur.

• Access to a Facebook private group chat allows subscribers to share ideas and learnings with  other like-minded practices.

• VfCA supports you along the way.
